Red is the color of the evening at the 2017 Met Gala

Updated

Fashion connoisseurs know and believe that the Met Gala is the 'Oscars of Fashion.' With that said, we all pay attention to what the stars debuted on the red carpet -- though we should all take these looks with a grain of salt, one can easily make note of the season's hottest trends.

The red carpet at the 2017 Met Gala was filled with red, red, red. Katy Perry played host to the star-studded event in head-to-toe red -- the satin headpiece and gown were designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela. Needless to say, the all-crimson look turned heads.

See all the red on the red carpet:

Doutzen Kroes came in hot in an off-the-shoulder red gown, while Emma Roberts dropped jaws in a Diane Von Furstenberg tight silhouette with a light pink velvet Soiree bag.

It makes sense that red was the color of the night. According to the New York Times, the color is backed by the designer Rei Kawakubo and face of Comme des Garcons, which is the theme of the night. Referring to one of her past Scarlet-dominated collections, she affirmed: "Red is black."

It may be our new motto.
