In the aftermath of the United Airlines scandal, where a doctor was bloodied while forcibly removed from a plane at Chicago O'Hare, many travelers are questioning their go-to carriers.

If you are a United loyalist but are looking to make a switch, consider swapping to one of the companies on TripAdvisor's Traveler's Choice Awards for Airlines. The travel planning and booking site used flyer reviews to assess brands that provide the best travel experiences. In the inaugural ranking, Emirates took the top spot.

According to the Khaleej Times, it operates one of the world's youngest modern wide-body fleets and is the first and only airline in the world to operate a fleet of all Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft for its passenger flights. Not only are the planes themselves state of the art, but the aircraft also boasts a full bar onboard, LED mood lights, in-flight Wi-Fi and even a shower spa that puts your own bathroom to shame.

The Dubai-based airline also won the Best First Class award, which is no surprise to anyone based on the insane number of perks for elite flyers including moisturizing loungewear, skincare from organic brand VOYA, spa attendants, fully reclining seats, latte art and more 2,500 TV channels.
