Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017: Welcome to the secret garden

Updated

For Maria Grazia Chiuri's first haute couture collection for Christian Dior, she took the audience to a whimsical garden party, and it was positively gorgeous. Opening the show with several black dresses, coats and ensembles, she reminded us of her skill for detail -- that she could essentially create a collection in one single hue and still it would blow us away.

Moving into gowns with layers of sheer fabrics and intricate embellishments, you're able to feel Chiuri's influence, seeing a few elements of what she did while working at Valentino, while still maintaining the Dior brand identity.

The show's location was set like a wooded maze, and the whimsical masks that some of the models wore made them look like woodland creatures all dolled up in a fairytale garden.

It was a slam dunk first couture collection, and we can't wait to see what she does next. We're also incredibly excited for Dior brand ambassadors Jennifer Lawrenceand Natalie Portman, who almost exclusively wear Dior, and will get to choose from this collection for their red carpet appearances all year long.
