Lemon Ricotta Pancake, Maria A. (Murfreesboro, Tenn.):

With a strong Italian heritage, Maria is no stranger to delicious food. Her mother was quite the chef, helping drive Maria’s own passion for cooking and exploring new foods. Culinary curiosity, paired with her family’s love of oatmeal, made for a great combination in Maria’s Bring Your Best Bowl contest entry. Maria lives in Murfreesboro, Tenn. with her husband of 26 years and one daughter. She is a busy mom who is known for throwing some of the best block parties in town.

About the Flavor:

Influenced by her Italian roots, Maria loves using ricotta in home-cooked dishes. One night, she had cheese left over from cooking and started searching for new ways to use the ingredient. Maria came across a delicious Lemon Ricotta Pancake recipe, and it was a hit with her family. When she decided to enter the Bring Your Best Bowl contest, she hoped this yummy flavor combo could be a contest contender!

Apple Cheddar Rosemary, Karen D. (Boston, Mass.):

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Karen lives in Boston, where she works as a technology public relations professional. Fueled by her love for cooking,Karen looks forward to whipping up dinner at home almost every night, and is always curious to try out new recipes. She likes to find interesting ways to enjoy oatmeal – a pantry staple in her house. When Karen is not at work or cooking some tasty meals, you can find her volunteering at the local dog shelter, at concerts or exploring the outdoors.

About the Flavor:

After Karen’s fiancé had mouth surgery and could not eat any crispy foods, she began cooking him oatmeal for dinner. To avoid winding up in a dinner rut, Karen had to start getting creative with her oatmeal flavor combinations. When her fiancé craved her Rosemary Apple & Cheddar flatbread, Karen transformed the flavors into a sweet and savory oatmeal dish, and inspired her tasty Bring Your Best Bowl submission.

Vanilla Chai, Heather K. (Redondo Beach, Calif.):

Heather and her family are avid oatmeal lovers, and eat it almost every morning. She even packed oatmeal for her honeymoon to Italy! To keep her family’s oats interesting, Heather always looks to mix up new, exciting flavors. When it comes to oatmeal toppings, she has probably tried them all!

Heather is a Project Manager in Redondo Beach, CA, where she resides with her husband, one son and their German Shorthaired Pointer. Living on the coast, she loves the outdoors, visiting the beach and many fitness activities.

About the Flavor:

Inspired by her husband’s Indian heritage, Heather loves finding new ways to weave the

culture’s flavors into her family’s meal time. Her most beloved flavor is the warm spiciness of chai tea with a

hint of vanilla, especially for breakfast. Being the oat advocate she is, Heather’s husband suggested she add

her vanilla chai tea right into her morning oatmeal –sparking her delicious Bring Your Best Bowl contest submission.
