Floral arrangements are this season's hottest holiday gift

While many may think floral arrangements are only used as congratulatory gifts, you may be surprised to learn that they have risen in popularity as holiday gifts, too. According to research, the flower industry rakes in $34.3 billion a year in revenue -- and Christmas and Hanukkah, account for the largest percentage (30 percent or about $2.28 billion) of all holiday flower sales.

Winston Flowers, one of the country’s most highly-esteemed florists, is hoping keep the momentum going by offering one-of-a-kind holiday floral arrangements. The company, which is based out of Boston and more recently New York City, has offered exclusive arrangements since its inception in 1944. And since the company's humble beginnings, it has pushed the floral industry forward by consistently offering fresh, innovative arrangement ideas -- especially during the holidays.

Although flowers are an extremely common offering this season, it is imperative to know not all arrangements are alike. Grace Lillibridge, event production manager at Winston Flowers, says the most important things to keep in mind are scale, color palette and theme.

"Know the taste and style of who you’re buying for. Inform your florist—but allow them to drive the design. You’ll get the best and freshest result with seasonal, best-of-day flowers," she continued.

Lillibridge also notes the thoughtfulness of selecting a local business versus a mass retailer. "Our co-owner, David Winston, often draws a comparison between the floral industry and the restaurant industry. For example, would you rather take your date to a large, expensive chain or to an intimate chef-owned restaurant? We are the equivalent of a farm-to-table restaurant with an emphasis on seasonality and the highest quality ingredients," the event production manager described.

Whether dreaming of freshly fallen snow or craving winter warmth, however, the Winston Flowers Holiday Collection has something for everyone and every occasion.
