Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's split takes 'nasty' turn amid conflicting allegations

Miley Cyrus' split from Liam Hemsworth has seemingly taken an ugly turn, with conflicting reports painting different pictures of what led to their recently announced separation.

TMZ reported on Wednesday that their split after less than a year of marriage is "now in nasty territory," with unnamed sources from both sides hurling accusations of drug use and infidelity at one another.

Per the outlet, Cyrus' side claims that she "valiantly" attempted to save their marriage, but the "dealbreaker" was Liam's drinking and partying which "she wanted no part of."

"Everyone always thinks Miley is problematic and immature and a hardcore partier while he’s this chill surfer dude, but that’s actually [not accurate]," a source echoed to People. "Liam parties with his friends, and Miley thinks he should’ve grown out of that by now."

The People insider added that Hemsworth could get "moody," explaining that his personality is far more complex than the "super easygoing" public persona he's become known for.

"She’s been supportive of him when things get dark, but it’s tough," the source explained. "That’s something that has weighed on Miley and their relationship. He can also lash out at her, and he hates the attention their ups and downs bring."

Meanwhile, TMZ says that sources close to Hemsworth say that such clams aren't true and are being use to "mask what they say really destroyed their marriage": Cyrus allegedly being unfaithful.

"This is another attempt by Miley to distract from her infidelity and recent outrageous public behavior," a source close to the "Hunger Games" actor contended.

An insider denied those allegations to Page Six, saying that she never strayed from their marriage and only started cozying up to Kaitlynn Carter, who she was photographed kissing while on vacation in Italy over the weekend, "months" after they separated.

"Miley was never unfaithful. She never hooked up with girls while she was married. It wasn’t a part of the relationship," the source insisted. "There was no hooking up behind his back or with his knowledge."

An insider close to Hemsworth also claimed that it was Cyrus' alleged partying that impacted their relationship in a negative way, saying that she's "acting like the 'old Miley' again" while "he wants a normal, settled-down life."

Despite what sources close to both camps are saying, Hemsworth and Cyrus themselves have been publicly playing nice in the days following their unexpected split, with both of them taking to social media in an attempt to quell speculation.

"Hi all Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward," Hemsworth said on Monday. "This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets."

Meanwhile, Cyrus was a bit less direct in her post, but did allude to personal growth and finding peace with change.

"My dad always told me 'Nature never hurries but it is always on time,'" she said on Sunday. "It fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true. I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own."
