Kim Kardashian West returns to White House to announces rideshare program for former inmates with Trump

Kim Kardashian West returned to the White House on Thursday for the Second Chance Hiring & Re-entry event to give an update on her advocacy in the criminal justice system.

The entrepreneur and beauty mogul announced a new ride-sharing partnership with Lyft that will help formerly incarcerated people receive transportation to and from job interviews.

"It really is such an honor to be here today," she began her speech in the East Room.

"My whole journey with criminal justice reform started about a year ago when I came to see the president after speaking to Ivanka and Jared who really fought for me to get here and I pled the case of Alice Johnson who the president granted clemency to."

"And after that I really spent so much time going to different prisons because I really had no connection to anybody on the inside and really just felt like for me, I'm at the place in my life that I wanted to make a difference and just wanted to do the right thing, but I didn't know how or what to do or even really what was going on."

"These people want to work," she explained "We have a ride-share partnership where formerly incarcerated people will be gifted gift cards so that they can get rides to and from job interviews, to and from jobs, family members, and that is so important, so needed."

Earlier in the day, Kim shared a video on her way to D.C explaining what she would be doing at the White House, adding that she was in the car with her law teachers.

For the outing, Kim put on her best black powersuit with pointed toe pumps and a sleek bob cut, with minimal makeup.

Back in April, Kim revealed to Vogue that she began a four-year apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco and plans to take the California bar exam in 2022.

This is not the first time the mother-of-four has made her mark in the White House. The 38-year-old visited Trump last year to advocate for Alice Marie Johnson's prison sentence to be reduced last year. She returned last fall to participate in a discussion surrounding clemency issues withJared Kushner.
