Mary-Kate Olsen competes in horseback riding competition: See the photos!

Mary-Kate Olsen took a break from manning her various fashion lines this week to compete in horseback riding competition, Longines Global Champions Tour, at the Club de Campo Villa in Madrid, Spain on Thursday.

Clad in a classic uniform -- white jodhpurs, knee-high boots, blazer and helmet included! -- one half of the Olsen twins took part in the jumping competition on her horses, Fatum and Naomi.

Page Six reports that Mary-Kate, 32, was disqualified during her run with Fatum because of an "error of course," but she managed to place sixth with her other horse, Naomi.

Though her twin, Ashley, was nowhere to be found during her unexpected appearance, her French billionaire husband, Olivier Sarkozy, 49, was photographed watching her compete. The couple has been married since November 2015.

Mary-Kate has long been open about her love of horseback riding, and recently got reacquainted with the regal sport. During a recent profile for HITS, the designer explained that she "came back to the sport because I missed it every day that I wasn't riding. It was the hardest thing to leave and the hardest thing to come back to."

"[Riding] allows me to practice being accepting, patient, disciplined, compassionate, competitive, and all of those other emotions that are very important to have in your everyday life," she added. "Horses teach you a lot about yourself."

"It is a challenge," Mary-Kate went on. "To balance both a career that requires almost all of my time and a true passion that is not a full time job. It is unfortunate that I can't be in two places at once. I have had to learn to be patient with myself."

Mary-Kate and Ashley very rarely make public appearances, only opting to hit several red carpet events a year, including the 2019 Met Gala, which is a far cry from their early careers, when their acting pursuits made them the most famous pair of twins in the world.

Nowadays, they live private lives as they continue to grow their incredibly successful fashion lines Elizabeth & James and The Row. That being said, there is inspiration to be drawn from during Mary-Kate's time riding horses.

"One of The Row’s first blazers was inspired by one of my first show jumping coats," Mary-Kate revealed. "My sister and I always think about fit and comfort when designing anything which is important in equestrian clothing as well."
