Madelaine Petsch reveals 'epic moment' with 'Riverdale' co-star Camila Mendes at the Met Gala (Exclusive)

Madelaine Petsch's first Met Gala experience featured more than a few unforgettable moments, but there was one that was truly "epic" for the "Rivderdale" star.

During an exclusive interview with AOL's Gibson Johns at the launch of M3, her second eyewear collection with Privé Revaux, at The Butterfly Bar in New York City, Petsch shed light on her "dream" of a night at the invite-only soirée, and how comforting it was to have fellow "Riverdale" stars Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Charles Melton there, too.

"In the beginning, I didn’t see anybody from the cast, and then the trumpets start playing to be called into dinner, and I knew Cami was wearing a yellow dress because I had seen a sketch of it, and I looked over and I see her and we both ran to each other and embraced in this epic moment," she said with a smile. "It's so great to be around people who you love and genuinely want to see you succeed."

Petsch attended the event as a guest of YouTube, which also brought the likes of James Charles, Derek Blasberg and Lilly Singh, none of whom she had ever met before, despite having her own growing channel on the video sharing platform. For the actress, 24, it was a nice balance having a new group of people to hang out with, while also being able to lean on her co-stars.

"It was kind of perfect. I didn’t actually know anybody from YouTube -- I just met them all for the first time," Petsch explained to AOL. "I have a channel, but I haven’t really collaborated with many creators yet. The whole ['Riverdale'] cast was there, though, and they all came to sit at my table. It was really fun. YouTubers are all really lovely and bubbly and vivacious."

Overall, Petsch called her first Met Gala a "wonderful experience," despite the fact that she questioned whether or not she deserved to be there in the first place.

"I was very nervous because I was like, 'Do I belong? Am I going to be accepted?' It’s a huge fashion event and to go on my third year on a television show is an incredible honor that I never expected," she gushed. "Going there I had all of these trepidations, but then they all disappeared when I showed up. Everyone was so lovely, it was obviously so well-organized, the fashion was to die-for."

Another person who caught Petsch's eye at the exclusive party was Jamie Foxx, who showed up wearing a pair of The Underdog sunglasses from Privé Revaux, for which he is a major investor. It was a fun nod to the brand that Petsch has worked with now on two collections of sunglasses, which she called "a natural collaboration."

"I was the girl who, before I was on the show, I had 100 pairs of really sh--ty sunglasses that were all fun for different moods, but then you lose them," she explained to us. "That's why I like the affordable glasses route, because if you lose them, you don’t get too sad about them. Whereas, when you’re dropping $400 on a pair of sunglasses, you freak out. They’re the fashion accessory that is the most interchangeable, and it’s a way to make an outfit look chic and put together even, if it’s not."

For her new M3 collection, Petsch said she spent about three months coming up with direction she wanted to go in, which ultimately resulted in three frames: Monroe, Matrix and Mads.
