Moved in!

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have officially moved out of their home at Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle, People confirmed on Thursday. The move comes just before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to welcome their first child together.

A spokesperson called Windsor Castle, where the couple got married last May, a "special place" for the couple.

Harry and Meghan's move was announced last November, and their new home has undergone lengthy and extensive renovations in the five months since, as the cottage had previously been divided into five separate units to accommodate members of the royal staff.

Until now, the couple had been living in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace, which is where Prince William and Kate Middleton live with their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.

The couple's move comes less than a month after they officially split their royal court from William and Kate's, representing the brothers' diverging responsibilities. While William is preparing to become the Prince of Wales and first-in-line to the throne behind his father, Charles, Harry continues to forge his own path as a royal, as he will likely never become king.

Ahead of the split, Harry and Meghan reportedly asked Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles to approve their request for "total royal freedom," but they were shot down.

"They wanted their household to be entirely independent of Buckingham Palace, but were told 'no,'" a source told the Times of Meghan and Harry's new office, which is jointly funded by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. "There is an institutional structure that doesn't allow that kind of independence. The feeling is that it's good to have the Sussexes under the jurisdiction of Buckingham Palace, so they can't just go off and do their own thing."

Duchess Meghan is reportedly expected to give birth in late April.
