John Goodman weighs in on doing 'The Connors' without Roseanne Barr

Updated

John Goodman dropped by "Late Night with Seth Meyers" to talk about "The Connors" and the controversy surrounding Roseanne Barr.

Though he tried to keep it light-hearted, Goodman did reveal that it was very odd doing a "Roseanne" spin-off without the show's creator and star.

"We used to have a lot of fun on the show and I really missed her this year," he told Meyers.

Roseanne was fired and the show was renamed after Barr posted a racist tweet. She agreed to give up rights to the show so that the rest of the cast could continue working. In its premiere season, "The Connors" has seen a huge following and rave reviews: The first episode had a whopping 10.5 million viewers, as fans tuned in to see how Roseanne would be written off the show.

"That's pretty permanent," Goodman commented about the decision to have Roseanne die of an opioid overdose. He also joked that in the last season of "Roseanne" his character was killed off, and they brought him back. "They're not gonna remember," he laughed, "Nobody was watching toward the end. He was sleeping."
