LFO singer Devin Lima dies at 41 after yearlong cancer battle

Devin Lima, who comprised one third of hit '90s boy band LFO, has died. He was 41 years old.

The singer passed Wednesday after a yearlong battle with stage 4 cancer, TMZ reports. In fall 2017, doctors found a football-sized tumor on Lima's adrenal gland, which is above the kidneys. Upon the tumor's removal, it was discovered to be malignant.

Lima and remaining bandmate Brad Fischetti had planned to go on tour in 2018 before learning of the tumor. The founding member of LFO, Rich Cronin, died in 2010 at age 36. Cronin battled leukemia for five years.

After Cronin's death, Lima and Fischetti considered the group disbanded until they decided to reunite in 2017.

Fans learned of Lima's diagnosis through Fischetti, who recorded a video message informing them of the news.

"Devin asked me to give you this update without him because frankly he’s just not feeling very well," Fischetti said, adding that doctors called the diagnosis a "one in a million cancer."

LFO's biggest hits were pop culture staples of the late '90s: The music video for "Girl on TV" featured Cronin's then-girlfriend, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and the catchy "Summer Girls" included the still oft-cited refrain, "New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits / Chinese food makes me sick."
