LFO put tour on hold as Devin Lima reveals stage 4 cancer diagnosis

LFO is canceling its upcoming tour plans in the wake of news that singer Devin Lima has been diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal cancer. The singer revealed the news on Monday (Oct. 30) after undergoing surgery to remove a massive tumor from his abdomen earlier this month. A biopsy taken after the surgery revealed the rare form of cancer.

The tumor surgery left Lima without his adrenal gland and one of his kidneys and while the tumor was entirely removed, there is a concern that some cancer cells may still be present. Lima, 40, will go through chemotherapy and radiation as part of this treatment plan, band publicist Alaina Bendi tells Billboard.

"We were really hoping that if this wasn't cancer that we could actually get Devin back in shape so that the guys could be on track to get on tour in February. However, this is just a complete game changer from left field and the band is, as heartbreaking as it is to say, the last thing he has to focus on right now. He needs to focus on his health so, LFO's touring will be canceled indefinitely," Bendi tells Billboard. "We need continued love and prayers that Devin makes it through this difficult road ahead of him and that he will one day see the stage again having beat this but right now, its one day at a time."

The band best known for 1999's "Summer Girls" was prepping a spring tour before the revelation about Lima's surgery, so those plans are currently on hold. "We were really hoping that if this wasn't cancer that we could actually get Devin back in shape so that the guys could be on track to get on tour in February," says Bendi. "However, this is just a complete game changer from left field and the band is, as heartbreaking as it is to say, the last thing he has to focus on right now. He needs to focus on his health so, LFO's touring will be canceled indefinitely."

The group lost singer Rich Cronin in 2010 after a battle with leukemia and band member Brad Fischetti said in a video about Lima's diagnosis that the news was hard to take. "I wish we had better news to share," he said, noting that Lima wasn't feeling well enough to give his own update after a "few rough days" in the hospital. "It's devastating news, but at the same time, there's nobody I know stronger than Devin Lima. No one has a stronger body, mind or soul. If anybody can defeat this it's Devin."
