Sam Smith 'devastated' after splitting from Brandon Flynn: Report

Updated

Sam Smith and Brandon Flynn have reportedly called it quits.

The Sun reports that the superstar singer and the "13 Reasons Why" actor ended their nine-month relationship sometime last week, and that Smith is "devastated" by the split.

"Sam and Brandon had a real whirlwind romance," a source told the outlet. "They really fell for each other."

Despite frequently traveling to see one another during Smith's current tour and Flynn's busy filming schedule, their conflicting projects and busy schedules were ultimately too much to manage.

"They are both so busy with their careers and unfortunately things just haven't worked out," the source continued. "Sam is obviously devastated. This is the most significant relationship he has ever had. Thankfully he is on tour across the U.S. at the moment, which has been a welcome distraction."

The couple started dating back in November of 2017, just before Smith released his second album, The Thrill of It All. In the months since, the pair hasn't been shy about packing on the PDA for paparazzi, sharing photos of each other on social media and commenting loving things on each others pictures. Since the split, though, Smith, 26, has seemingly deleted several photos with Flynn, 24, from his Instagram account.

Flynn was out and about with his "13 Reasons" co-star Tommy Dorfman at New York Pride this past weekend, while Smith was in Boston preparing for his Tuesday night concert -- notably opting not to take the short trip down to New York for Pride, which he attended last year.

Neither Brandon nor Sam have confirmed the split. The singer is set to perform in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.
