'This Is Us': Sterling K. Brown says Randall was raised by 'Becky With the Good Hair'

Over the show's first two seasons, "This Is Us" has revealed a lot about the Pearson family, but there are certain things that Sterling K. Brown still wants to know about his character, Randall.

Speaking exclusively to AOL Entertainment, Brown pointed to Randall's relationships to his sister, Kate (Chrissy Metz), and his wife, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), as particular points of interest for him moving forward.

"I would still like to see more interaction between present-day Randall and Kate," Brown told us when we asked what he still wants to know about his character. "I feel like the relationship between Kate and Kevin is pretty solid, and the relationship between Kevin and Randall is solid -- Kevin being the linchpin -- but I want some more sister-brother time with Randall."

"I'm curious in the past of just how he and Beth got together," he added. "This black man, who was raised by this white woman, chose a black woman to share his life with. And we know he had a white girlfriend at the time that Jack died, because she comes over to the house to be with him then. So, what happened [with] her and how did he get to Beth?"

And because he doesn't necessarily consider Randall to be, well, a huge ladies man, Brown insists that his character's love life could shed light on his own personal journey of finding out who he is -- what what he wants.

"I don't see Randall as being a player who has had multiple relationships, so I'm curious to see how that happened," Brown explained. "Seeing as he was literally raised by Becky With the Good Hair."

Beyoncé wasn't the only celebrity that the actor referenced during our interview at a new Youth Opportunity Hub in Harlem, New York, where he was partnering with Clorox and Thrive Collective to celebrate the transformative power of cleaning. When we asked if Brown, like all the rest of us, cries during "This Is Us," he revealed that he does, indeed, cry while watching -- even if during some episodes it's just one "single Denzel" Washington tear.

That emotional investment comes through his willingness to put himself in the shoes of "This Is Us" viewers, which is incredibly important as an actor.

"I experience the show as a fan," he told us. "The audience is so connected to us. We have a lot of opportunities to go out and be in public, and the ways in which people pour themselves back into us based upon what we have given them is tremendous."

"This Is Us" fans are so attached to the cast that they tend to open up to Brown and his fellow cast members when they get to meet them.

"I've received so many hugs! I've had people just cry from hugging me," he said. "I had a young man come up to me and say, 'You saved my brother's life.' I had a woman come up to me with a baby strapped to her chest saying, 'I adopted this baby because of you.' I had a man come up to me last year and say, 'I just quit my job because of you.' And I was like, 'Hold on, bro. Don't quit your job!' He was like, 'I was close to doing it anyway.' It really moves people."
