'Vanderpump Rules' star Lala Kent explains the infamous pasta argument and why she regrets bringing it up

Updated

"Vanderpump Rules" fans have been buzzing for weeks about pasta.

On the January 22 episode called It's Not About the Pasta, Lala Kent and James Kennedy got into a screaming match at lunch -- with friend, Logan, looking on -- over James' girlfriend Raquel. After Lala told James that she had eaten some of Raquel's pasta, he took a dig at Lala's boyfriend, prompting a massive argument seemingly about someone eating someone else's pasta.

But was it really about the pasta? Is "pasta" a code word for drugs? What's the big deal about eating someone's pasta?

After the bizarre blowup, social media went into a tizzy over whether "pasta" actually meant "cocaine," which is rumor that cast members like Kristen Doute and Ariana Madix have both publicly denied.

So, if they were really arguing over pasta, what was the big deal? During a sit-down interview with AOL Entertainment this week, Lala revealed why the pasta was brought up in the first place and why, looking back, she now regrets ever having brought it up.

"During that scene, the conversation between James and Logan got extremely heated about how much Logan doesn't care for Raquel and [James and Logan] having a romantic relationship, and I felt it getting heavy," she explained to us. "We were like the three musketeers! So, I brought up the pasta to make light of a joke, like, 'We ate the pasta! That was the problem!'"

"And, keep in mind, I had a 45-minute conversation with Raquel that night -- like a heart-to-heart -- and this b--ch doesn't even remember it," she went on. "I'm really thinking that she didn't care about the pasta. She was that drunk. We were all drunk. If you get a group of girls together and you have a plate of food, it's going to get devoured."

"It had to do with a plate of food, for real!" she finished. "I just said it to make light of the situation that was happening and now I totally wish I wouldn't have [said anything]. It made it heavy and redirected at me."

So, there you have it: It was, indeed, about the pasta.

We also chatted with Lala Kent about her relationship with James Kennedy now, her budding friendship with Katie Maloney and her willingness to be more outspoken this season.
