Inside the 2018 Golden Globes: All of the moments that got people talking

Updated

This year's Golden Globes were dominated, as expected, by the ongoing #MeToo and "Time's Up" movements sweeping Hollywood, and the politically-charged night provided for some moments that will surely go down in Golden Globes history.

The real show first happened outside of the Beverly Hilton, where almost everyone who walked the red carpet on Sunday night was wearing black in solidarity with victims of sexual assault and harassment. It was a powerful trend to witness, and Hollywood's biggest stars all took different approaches to the inspiring movement.

The 75th annual show was hosted by Seth Meyers, and he delivered a well-received monologue to open the ceremony, calling out Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Donald Trump and more figures that have loomed large over the industry over the past several months and years.

Oprah Winfrey's acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award was also a talked-about moment from the show, as the 9-minute address garnered multiple standing ovations throughout. Watch the rousing moment here.

Nicole Kidman prompted a collective swoon during her acceptance speech when she thanked husband Keith Urban, while fellow "Big Little Lies" stars Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern used their moments on stage to continue to pay tribute to the Time's Up movement.

Other show highlights came from Carol Burnett and Jennifer Aniston, who shared a hilarious moment on stage together, during which Aniston asked Burnett if she could pull on her ear. Burnett responded by calling the former "Friends" actress "kinky."

Before introducing the award for Best Director - Motion Picture, Natalie Portman made sure to mention that all of the nominees in the category this year were men -- a comment that came right after Oprah's rousing speech and a year that featured such female-directed hits like Greta Gerwig's "Lady Bird" and Patty Jenkins "Wonder Woman."

More key moments came from Kirk Douglas, 101, taking the stage with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Barbra Streisand making a statement while introducing an award and more.
