Co-anchor Savannah Guthrie announced the news on "Today" and said that she "just learned of this moments ago, just this morning. As I'm sure you can imagine, we are devastated and we are processing all of this." She went on to say that she's "heartbroken" over the news and shared her sympathies with the woman who came forward with her complaint.

Reactions to Matt Lauer's firing:

"I've known Matt for 15 years," Hoda Kotb added. "It's hard to reconcile what we are hearing with the man who we know who walks in this building every single day."

Weatherman Al Roker said that he's "trying to process" the news.

"I’m stunned," Willie Geist said on "Morning Joe." "He is the leader over there; he is in charge. He is one of the guys I have always looked up to in this business, and he taught me a lot."

Over at "Good Morning America," Robin Roberts said of Guthrie and Kotb, "You can just tell that they're grappling with this. But they have all spoken about the bravery of their colleagues."

"This is not over yet," George Stephanopoulos added. "We have a long long way to go."
