Celebrities that died in 2017: Looking back at the legends we've lost

This year has featured a lot of heartbreaking celebrity deaths.

In 2017, we lost some incredibly beloved musicians like Tom Petty, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, former "Partridge Family" star David Cassidy, Soundgarden's Chris Cornell, rapper Lil Peep and Gregg Allman.

Some of Hollywood's most iconic actors also left us. Sam Shepard, John Heard, Don Rickles and Mary Tyler Moore were some of the famous faces that we've been used to seeing on-screen for decades that we tragically lost in 2017.

There were also a handful of majorly established names in media that died this year. Playboy founder and icon Hugh Hefner passed away this fall, while controversial former FOX News head honcho Roger Ailes died suddenly in May.
