Mandy Moore shares tips on how to throw the best Friendsgiving and teases wedding plans

Updated

Mandy Moore is possibly living her best life yet. The actress has had tremendous success in the past year with her hit TV show, This is Us, has a killer group of close-knit girlfriends (the Streicher sisters and Minka Kelly, to name a few) and recently got engaged to Taylor Goldsmith, frontman to indie rock band Dawes.

AOL recently sat down for a Friendsgiving lunch with Moore, presented by American Express Blue Cash Everyday, to talk about how to throw the best Friendsgiving and what we can expect on her big wedding day.

"I started a couple of years ago," says Moore of Friendsgiving. "We’ve sort of bucked tradition and not done a formal Thanksgiving. We’ve incorporated our Thanksgiving into a Friendsgiving celebration so it’s more families there but there are a lot of friends as well.”

The actress is gearing up to co-host Friendsgiving with her future mother-in-law and has a few signature dishes up her sleeve.

"I like to do some sort of brussels sprouts situation," says Moore. "Last year I did a raw brussels sprouts salad that was pretty popular. But then I like to bring dessert as well because I have a gluten intolerance so I like to bring a gluten free option."

The actress reveals she's made a delicious paleo pumpkin pie recipe in the last couple of years created by one of her favorite food bloggers. "It's made with almond flour and is pretty easy," says Moore.

The actress is not only preparing for an epic Friendsgiving feast but is also starting to get ready to move into her new house with her fiance, Taylor Goldsmith. When asked what are some of the personal touches she'll have in her new home, she reveals the biggest thing she's looking forward to is the music. "I am the most excited about having a record player set. Music [in that sense] is what I'm most excited to have in my life again."

Moore's friends recently threw the actress a brunch party to celebrate her engagement to the musician despite her hesitation but reveals she was very grateful they didn't listen to her.

"It ended up being a casual brunch with our closest girlfriends and my most favorite part was … we went around and the women, my friends that are married, gave their advice about what marriage means to them. To gather this specific group of women, some who knew each other, some who didn’t, and to be able to be vulnerable and share those stories ... it was really beautiful."

As for any details on her future wedding?

"I haven’t started thinking about any of that stuff yet, we have just started getting into it," says Moore. "It's going to be quiet and private -- and then it’ll happen and then you’ll find out about it."
