Britney Spears puts those lip syncing rumors to rest once and for all

Britney Spears addressed years-long rumors that she lip syncs during live performances head-on for perhaps the first time in her legendary career.

The 35-year-old performer was talking to an Israeli television station this week ahead of her upcoming performance in Tel Aviv when she was asked, "How much of your show is with playback, backed up with playback, how much of it is live?"

"I'm glad you're addressing this question, because it's really funny," Spears responded. "A lot of people think that I don't sing live. Because I'm dancing so much, I do have a little bit of playback, but there's a mixture of my voice and the playback."

Spears' reveal that she sings over pre-recorded music shouldn't come as a surprise to most people, as many top performers use playback during live performances. It's a common tactic used to combat the piercing noise of screaming crowds that make it hard for artists to hear themselves on stage.

The "Toxic" hitmaker went on to explain that the speculation around her live performances makes her angry.

"It really pisses me off, because I am busting my ass out there and singing at the same time and nobody ever really gives me credit for it."

The no-holds-barred comment was a rare instance of Spears speaking out on a controversial claim about her, as she has tended to avoid controversy over the last couple of years of her career. She's currently on an international tour and performing in cities that she hasn't visited in half a decade due to her years-long residency in Las Vegas, which is ending later this year.

Instead of frequently speaking to the press, Spears has used her beloved Instagram account to directly interact with her fans and give the Britney Army content direct from her.
