Olivia Newton-John 'totally confident' as she battles breast cancer for the second time

Olivia Newton-John is "totally confident" as she battles breast cancer for the second time.

The former "Grease" star and her loved ones opened up to People this week about last month's devastating news that she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer 25 years after her first diagnosis in 1992.

"I am really grateful for and touched by the worldwide outpouring of love and concern," Newton-John told People this week. "Thank you. I am feeling good and enjoying total support from my family and friends, along with a team of wellness and medical practitioners both here in the US and at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia."

"I'm totally confident that my new journey will have a positive success story to inspire others! Love and light, Olivia," she finished.

The 68-year-old star had initially revealed the news in a short Facebook post at the end of May. She announced she would be postponing her upcoming tour dates to receive radiation therapy and "natural wellness therapies" to combat the cancer, which had metastasized to the sacrum.

Newton-John's husband, John Easterling, echoed his wife's positive outlook about her chances of overcoming cancer once again and revealed that her pain "has gone from [an] 8 to about a 2" after just a week of treatment.

"We both have the same unshakable belief that she's going to have a wonderful success story," he told People. "We're not trying to be positive. We have an absolute knowingness that we can turn this around."

Easterling and Newton-John, who have been married for about eight years, are "taking life at a slower pace" at their home in Southern California, though Newton-John's good friend Leeza Gibbons maintains that she isn't going that slowly.

"She's not naive and doesn't get immobilized," Gibbons said. "She finds light in the darkest corners and just always has."

During her first battle with breast cancer back in 1992, Newton-John underwent a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and breast reconstruction surgery.
