Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx preparing to take a big step in their relationship

Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx are ready to "go public."

Despite both being A-list movie stars, the couple has taken an unexpected approach to their relationship, opting to go about it in an extremely secretive manner. Though they've been quietly dating since 2013, they've rarely been spotted in public together, but a NYC dinner date last week -- the first time they've been photographed at a restaurant together -- seems to indicate a change of heart.

Indeed, as Us Weekly reports this week, Holmes and Foxx are ready to make more public outings together.

They "used to be super worried about public attention," a source tells Us, but "Katie is tired of playing the hiding game."

Another source elaborated on their said "hiding game," revealing that their meet-ups were always planned to a T in an effort to escape eager paparazzi.

"To make it impossible to get photo evidence that they are together, they traveled in cars with tinted windows and took secret back elevators," another source said. "They had it down to a science."

Holmes, 38, and Foxx, 49, are allegedly ready to let go of their desire for complete privacy in order to be able to do things that any other couple would: Go out to dinner and travel together.

"They're going to go out to dinner more and are talking about a trip to Europe," one of the sources told Us.

Another factor that may be playing into their decision to let their relationship flourish out in the open? Their children: Holmes shares Suri, 10, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, while Foxx is father to Corinne, 22, Annalise, 7.
