Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are 'a work in progress'

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are talking to each other again, People reports.

The couple, whose divorce is still ongoing, has allegedly been "able to resolve" a lot of their issues after months of he-said she-said in the press.

"It was a rough time, but they were able to resolve it," a source told People. "This is a work in progress."

Their contentious split involved shocking allegations that Pitt had assaulted their oldest child, Maddox, 15, during an explosive fight aboard a private plane. After multiple investigations -- and countless headlines -- officials found no wrongdoing on Pitt's part, though claims of substance abuse still persist.

Regardless, Jolie and Pitt have reportedly gotten past their differences to focus on what really matters: Their six children together. More importantly? They're doing it in a more private matter.

"He's much happier," an insider says of Pitt. "He's very relieved that things are not playing out in public anymore. He's always been extremely positive about how Angie's a good mother, and the goal was to resolve everything for the kids and the whole family, and they're working toward that."

Indeed, Pitt does seem to be at peace after months of troubling reports that barely being able to see his children was taking a toll on the actor. On Tuesday, it was revealed that the "Allied" star has "found something new to be passionate about": Sculpting!

"He recently spent many days and even nights working on a sculpture," a source told People magazine.

He's also "spending more time with the kids when they are in L.A.," the insider revealed.

Jolie, 41, and Pitt, 53, share Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.

To finalize their divorce and custody proceedings, the couple hired a private judge in an effort to handle the rest of their issues privately.
