'Flip or Flop' star Tarek El Moussa opens up about dating his kids' nanny amid divorce

Updated

Tarek El Moussa is continuing to speak out about his divorce from fellow "Flip or Flop" star Christina El Moussa in a new interview with Us Weekly.

The 35-year-old HGTV star covers a lot of different topics in the revealing Q&A, including how he has "totally moved on" from his ex.

When asked about Christina's relationship with Gary Anderson, who was a contractor on "Flip or Flop," Tarek admits that he wasn't completely on board with the romance (which has since come to an end).

"It bothered me," he admits. "But she can live her life. I've totally moved on."

Though he's over his feelings for his former ladylove, Tarek also admits that he's not ready for another longterm, committed relationship. Following his now-infamous split, the father of two briefly dated his children's nanny, 23-year-old Alyssa Logan.

"I did date her for a month," he says. "I was going through a tough time, and she's amazing. I never held hands with her around the kids, though. Now I'm not dating anyone specifically. It will be a long time before I'm in a relationship."

Instead of a relationship, Tarek is looking towards a happy future with his children, Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 18 months, which will be even brighter now that his dynamic with Christina has become more cordial.

"You have good days and bad days," he says of continuing to film "Flip or Flop" with his ex. "Now we say, 'Hi, good morning.' We film together and talk about houses and kids. [...] It's fine. We'll be together for the rest of our lives because we have kids. We need to get along for the kids and for our sanity."

And it appears as though they are definitely getting along. The couple celebrated both of their kids' birthdays as a family and plan on spending holidays like Christmas together, as well.

"My goal is to create memories, and I think I'm doing that," Tarek concludes. "I'm the happiest I've been in a long time. It takes a situation like this, where you get knocked down and you rebuild yourself into the person you want to be. I'm becoming the person I want to be."
