Katy Perry under fire for alleged Britney Spears diss on GRAMMYs red carpet

Katy Perry is in hot water after her appearance on the GRAMMYs red carpet on Sunday night.

While talking to Ryan Seacrest on the E! Red Carpet, Perry revealed that she had been "taking care of [her] mental health" during her almost four-year break from music.

And then came the kicker.

"I haven't shaved my head yet!" Perry exclaimed in a clear reference to Britney Spears' infamous head-shaving incident from 2007, which was perhaps the singer's lowest point as she struggled with alleged mental health issues.

Twitter users almost immediately chided Perry for the moment, as they interpreted it as the singer mocking Spears.

"OK FINE I turned on the Grammies and Katy Perry was making a snide 'Britney breakdown head-shaving' reference & I'm not down with that," Emily Nussbaum tweeted.

"Katy Perry mocking Britney on the red carpet. Not cute! Good luck with that new single, sis," T.Kyle chimed in.

Whether or not the supposed shade was purposeful, one thing's for certain: her comments were not taken well online.
