Beyonce and Jay-Z had been trying to have another child for 'a few years' before announcement

Beyoncé and Jay-Z had been trying to have another child for "a few years" before the "Formation" singer started carrying twins late last year, People reports.

The superstar couple, who announced their exciting news through Beyoncé's Instagram account last week, already share Blue Ivy, 5, together, but were eager to give her a sibling. And, now, she's getting two!

"They wanted another child and after a few years of trying, it's a great feeling," a source told People. "Beyoncé's very happy."

The news came years after the "Formation" singer had first opened up about her struggles to conceive. In her 2012 HBO documentary, "Life Is But A Dream," she revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage before she became pregnant with Blue.

"I picked out names," said at the time. "I envisioned what my child would look like."

Beyoncé's Instagram post broke the record for most-liked photo in the history of Instagram just hours after she posted it last Wednesday, a record previously held by Selena Gomez. As of today, the photo had over 10 million likes.

The singer is rumored to be performing at this Sunday's GRAMMYs, where she's nominated for nine awards, the most of the night. She's also scheduled to headline Coachella in April, though there's skepticism around whether or not she'll be able to fulfill that obligation.
