Fisher passed away early on Tuesday morning just a few days after suffering a massive heart attack mid-flight. Reynolds had posted on her Facebook page on Christmas day, two days ago, that Fisher was in stable condition in the ICU.

"My daughter, Carrie Fisher, is in stable condition in ICU," the post said. "If there is any change, the family will share the information at that time. To all her friends and fans, I thank you all for your prayers and good wishes."

In the hours after news of Fisher's death was made public by her own daughter, actress Billie Lourd, many of Hollywood's biggest stars -- many of whom knew and worked with Fisher throughout her illustrious career -- took to social media to pay their respects to the star, too.

"Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill, William Shatner, Bette Midler and more big names were among the celebrities that paid their respects publicly.
