2016 CMA Awards: Black dominates the red carpet

Updated

Don't get us wrong, some bold colors made appearances on the CMA red carpet Wednesday evening (did you see Faith Hill and Jennifer Nettles?) -- but without a doubt, black ensembles dominated.

Everyone from Miranda Lambert and Jennifer Garner (what a pleasant surprise her appearance was!) to Gretchen Wilson and Olivia Newton John decided to keep it classic.

With that said, the stars still took risks. Olivia Newton John threw in a pop of turquoise (we weren't in love with it) and Kaitlyn Bristowe went for a two-piece number (she hit it out of the park).

Jessie James Decker dazzled in sequins, while Gretchen Wilson underwhelmed in a tee, leggings and suede boots.
