Kim Kardashian's outlook is allegedly 'more positive' as Paris police chief speaks out on robbery

Kim Kardashian's outlook on life is reportedly more "positive" than its been since she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris earlier this month.

Source close to the 36-year-old entrepreneur told PEOPLE that Kardashian "is still figuring out her life."

"She still has no plans for any work appearances," the insider continued. "But her outlook on life seems more positive. She has calmed down a lot since the robbery."

Kardashian has kept an extremely low profile since said robbery, only stepping out a couple of times to travel or have a quiet dinner with a friend, both times wearing loose sweats and sneakers. The star turned 36 on Friday and, though the rest of her famous family took to social media to pay tribute to her big day, the star opted for a very low-key, private celebration this year.

"Kim had a quiet birthday celebration with Kanye, their kids, her sisters and Kris," the source told PEOPLE. "It was Kim's choice to not have a big celebration. She seemed very happy with her decision."

The revelations that Kardashian's mentality has turned more positive comes on the same day that Vanity Fair published an in-depth article examining the robbery, the investigation into the crime and its effect on tourism in Paris. The article, written by Mark Seal, also features a length interview with Paris police chief Christian Sainte. It's his first with an international news outlet.

Perhaps his most revelatory quote addresses the rumors that Kardashian and her family somehow fabricated the entire incident for publicity, claims that seemed completely ridiculous from the outset.

"At this time, there is no doubt about the reality of the crime," Sainte simply said.
