How long is your beauty routine in the morning?

Whether it's a quick swipe of mascara or lipstick before heading out the door, one study says women who wear makeup at work are paid more.

Studies about people who are physically attractive and the advantages in life aren't new. Science says these people are more likely to be hired and promoted in the workforce.

But this new study focuses more on the grooming aspects of beauty.

Researchers found that when they compared people of the same level of attractiveness, the more well-groomed person earned more money.

One of the lead authors of the study said in a statement that women are essentially compensated for sticking within social, gender norms.

"It gives me another way to think of the mechanisms that are creating gender inequality in our society," Jaclyn Wong said. "It's something that constantly sits in the back of my mind as I do my other work: what's different for women that might not matter for men? What are some of the pressures women face that men don't?"
