On Thursday, a non-kill animal shelter called MEOW posted a picture on Facebook telling the tragic story of a kitten found with a child's devastating hand-written note. It started when a woman in Kirkland came across a closed cardboard box on the sidewalk. When she lifted the flap of the box, she found a tiny kitten.
Above the kitten, a heartbreaking note was scribbled by what seems to be a young child. The note read:

The woman took the kitten to the vet and then to the shelter. The kitten is now in a foster home and is reportedly headed for a happy, loving family. MEOW said:

After MEOW posted the picture on Facebook, several commenters suggested that the woman leave a note where she found the kitten letting the child know that the kitten was rescued and will go to a loving family.
