Milly gets an exciting new edge for Spring 2016

My love for Milly goes way back. I think the first really nice (read: expensive) dress I bought was a MIlly, picked after much debate for the Kentucky Derby. Back then Milly was all colorful prints and ladylike silhouettes. Over the last few seasons, designer Michelle Smith has transitioned to more sleek silhouettes and geometric prints but this season she pushed way past the Milly of old.

The prints she's known for were still there but mixed in while billowy white looks (loved the bold sleeves and off-the-shoulder styles) and lots of stripes. One of my favorite looks was a white silk midi dress with thing blue straps and a bold striped v-neck. I can already see it splashed across Instagram from weddings to beach trips.

When she went for color, Smith went bold too. Think bright reds (with that big bell sleeve again), bold yellow and a mixed palette chevron print. It may take a while for the faithful to adopt this new MIlly but once they do, I'm guessing they'll never look back.
