Prabal Gurung's Spring 2016 collection brought eastern flair

Since the launch of his first collection in February 2009, Gurung's looks have been the definition of modern luxury. This season's show, which took place on Sunday evening, was no exception and made a nod to his roots growing up in Nepal. Gurung has been very active in his support of relief efforts for the earthquake in Nepal over the past few months and the opening of the show with chanting by Buddhist monks was a touching tribute to the place he called home.

This also set the tone for the rest of the show which was heavily influenced by eastern style. Drapey silk dresses in bright red, orange, and yellow were followed by off- the-shoulder knits in similar tones. Bold colors gave way to muted pastels as the look changed to pussy bow blouses and sheer flowing skirts. The end of the show took on a more glam feel as sequined dresses in black, white, and metallic prints headed down the runway.

While we could easily see ourselves in all of the pieces from this season's collection, the final dress, a bold red number, was definitely a showstopper and one we won't soon forget. Gurung's shows are always a favorite of ours and this season did not disappoint.
