Yes, you read that headline correctly.

According to The Telegraph, the parrot, who goes by the name Hariyal, was trained for two years by its owner, Suresh Sakharkar, to abuse his stepmother, Janabai. The bird apparently insulted Janabai every time she walked past Sakharkar's home.

Janabai told Zee News she felt constantly harassed because of the foul language the bird would use. "I am being harassed for the last two years. On seeing me, the parrot uses bad language and foul words."

Janabai goes on to say this was the main reasoning behind her calling the police.

Both Suresh and his stepmother, Janabai have been living separately because of a property dispute, according to reports in India. Police Inspector P S Dongre told reporters that that they looked into the matter, but had no luck with the parrot.

"There is a dispute over land and property between the woman and her stepson. We watched the parrot carefully but it did not utter a word at the police station after being confronted by the complainant."

No charges have been pressed against the parrot but it was handed over to the state's forestry department.
