This guy got an awesome rejection letter after applying to Hogwarts

Updated

At the raw, vulnerable age of 18, our biggest fears included receiving that dreaded small envelope containing a devastating rejection letter upon college application time.

One student, however, just received perhaps the most hilarious rejection letter of all time. The clever young man sent a tongue-in-cheek application to Hogwarts University through UCAS. The 18-year-old probably wrote the letter as a fun way to get positive attention from his classmates and assumed the whole thing would be over within a a day or two.

He never expected to actually hear back from UCAS. However, UCAS had a little fun of their own by responding to the young man's faux application. The official rejection letter reads:

"Dear Applicant,

We regret to inform you that your application to the stated establishment cannot be processed at this time due to the fact that it does not exist. After consultation with our mystic advisors we have also determined that even if it did exist, the course 'Wandology' would be highly in demand and hence require at least two As and a B in any of the following subjects:

Advanced Spellcrafting

Mystimatics

Defence Against the Dark Arts

History of the Occult

Shaft Design

Your hand written grade sheet claiming top marks in 'Waving a stick about,' 'Wearing a pointy hat' and 'Watching Paul Daniels TV Specials' sadly is not suitable for submission, however by applying through clearing you may be suitable for a selection of Liberal Arts courses. Alternatively you may wish to resubmit next year by tying your letter to an owl and hoping for the best.

On behalf of UCAS I wish you every success"

Essentially, the young man did not take the proper coursework to qualify for admission to Hogwarts. It seems Hogwarts is getting quite competitive and admission is contingent upon much more than simply having magical powers.

Don't worry though, we're sure this guy will find the right fit for him. Hogwarts was just too demanding this year!

In fact, we know this guy will find the right fit as he's actually quite the social-media genius. The picture was sourced by a man named Barry:
