While you won't get anywhere near his time without some years of practice, solving the cube is really not that big of a deal.

Let's debunk the biggest myth: you do not need to be a genius.

You can actually learn how to solve a 3x3x3 cube in less than an hour and there are a bunch of teenagers making simple tutorials on YouTube that will guide you through it.

There are a variety of methods, some easier than others. This will teach you the technique behind solving the cube, and with some practice it's not impossible to bring your personal record below 3 minutes. Anything beyond that does require lots of memory skills.
