This roller coaster is designed to kill people
Under some unfortunate circumstances roller coasters could break or cause someone to get hurt, but this one is designed with the sole aim to kill you.
The idea comes from artist Julionas Urbonas, who came up with the concept he calls "Euthanasia Coaster".
According to the artist's website " is a hypothetic roller coaster, engineered to humanely – with elegance and euphoria – take the life of a human being. Riding the coaster's track, the rider is subjected to a series of intensive motion elements that induce various unique experiences: from euphoria to thrill, and from tunnel vision to loss of consciousness, and, eventually, death."
The website claims that a cross-disciplinary approach that merged medicine, mechanical engineering, material technologies and, gravity was needed to create this piece through which "the fatal journey is made pleasing, elegant and meaningful".
The falling trajectory of the curved rails increases the g-force to a point that defeats the human body. The artist listed some characteristics of the ride as follows:
Max speed: 100m/s
Max g-force: 10 g
Cause of death:
Cerebral hypoxia, lack of oxygen supply to the brain.
Greyout – loss of color vision;
Tunnel vision – loss of peripheral vision;
Blackout – complete loss of vision;
G-LOC – g-force induced Loss Of Consciousness"
This is how the designer describes it:
You can imagine the public's reactions:
This design will definitely never turn into a working model. As if roller coasters weren't scary enough already. Some people that experience regular coaster rides tend to already majorly freak out over the normal g-force that they feel, like this girl who we are sure will never step on one of these:
