Last week, a photo of a 9-year-old Filipino boy doing his homework on a small desk in the street went viral.

The photo was posted by Joyce Gilos Torrefranca, a 20-year-old medical student in the Philippines who simply posted the photo to her Facebook with the caption, "I got inspired by a kid."

Torrefranca wasn't the only one who was inspired by the young boy. The photo received thousands of shares on Facebook, and she even inspired news outlet ABS-CBN to track down the young boy, whom they discovered is named Daniel Cabrera.

ABS-CBN also discovered that the young boy was doing his homework near a food establishment where his mother and sibling work. They also found that the Cabrera family does not have a permanent home since it was destroyed in a fire.

In fact, it is routine for Daniel to do his homework outside of the McDonald's. The third grader does this every night.

Support has poured in since Daniel's photo went viral, from cash to school supplies. People also sent the family uniforms and a reading lamp, but one donation was absolutely remarkable: Daniel was given a scholarship offer that includes enough money to get him through college.

It's amazing what a viral photo can do!
