Have you ever wondered what it'd be like to stand at the precipice of a boiling hot gushing volcano? Most of us wouldn't want to know. But George Kourounis, a renowned global adventurer was curious, and now he's showing us what it was like.

The storm chaser traveled to the crater of the Marum volcano on Ambrym Island. Vanuatu is a small oceanic island nation in the south Pacific Ocean.

Kourounis descended over 1,300 feet inside the craters violently boiling lake of lava. He tried to get as close as humanly possible to the crater with the help of a protective heat suit.

Marum volcano is one of the only places in the world with persistent lava lakes. Kourounis says they had to deal with terrible weather near the crater, including acid rain. He says one of his cameras and the protective suit he was wearing are ruined from getting pelted with small chunks of glowing hot lava.
