Kensington Palace announces school Prince George will attend in the fall

Updated

One day after Duchess Kate opened up about the insecurities that come with motherhood, big news about one of her little ones was announced. Kensington Palace confirmed Friday that Prince George, 3, will attend Thomas's Battersea School in London, starting in September.

The news may come as a surprise to some, as many were expecting the toddler to attend Prince William's alma mater, Wetherby School. Look at tiny William on his first day:

Before the palace revealed the big news, parents of Thomas's Battersea School students received a letter from headmaster Ben Thomas, saying:

"Like so many parents, the Duke and Duchess have put a great deal of thought into the choice of their eldest child's first 'big school'. We are honoured that the aims and values of Thomas's reflect those that Their Royal Highnesses would like for Prince George's education. We are deeply conscious of the trust that they, like all Thomas's parents, are placing in us and we hope very much to live up to their expectations."

According to The Telegraph, the reputable school's first rule is to "be kind" -- and students are not encouraged to pick a best friend as to avoid hurt feelings. As for the financials, each term reportedly costs £4,500 per term (or well over $5,000).

Good luck, George! We can't wait to see the little prince's first day of "big school" photos.
