Chef names the 'most underrated' Thanksgiving leftover ingredient

Updated

At this point, a few days have passed since your Thanksgiving feast (and all your leftovers have likely been devoured ... or have gone bad by now, depending on how you stored them).

If you still have cranberry sauce left over (let's call a spade a spade, it's not the most popular side dish), it may still be good to repurpose, depending on how quickly you refrigerated it after the meal.

And even if you don't have cranberry sauce left, you probably still have a few bags of cranberries laying around from all the sauce you thought you were going to make.

Either way, chef Alex Guarnaschelli happens to think that cranberry sauce is the most "underrated" leftover ingredient.

"Cranberry sauce is more versatile than people give it credit for. It makes a great salad dressing to pair with any combination that includes fall greens, goat cheese, dried fruits or toasted nuts. Simply whisk it smooth with some olive oil, red wine vinegar, and a dollop of mustard," she advises.

Sounds delicious, if you ask us!

For another way to repurpose cranberry sauce -- and if you also happened to freeze your leftover turkey -- Guarnaschelli has a mouthwatering leftover recipe (and it incorporates Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi wine).
