Man armed with a machete chases clown spotted near the woods

It seems like the spooky clown saga of summer 2016 has only just begun.

Greensboro Police on Tuesday morning received a call about another clown sighting in North Carolina.

A witness told police that a person wearing a scary clown mask, red curly wig, yellow dotted shirt, blue clown pants and clown shoes exited the woods by an apartment complex.

Another witness reportedly chased the clown with a machete, but was not able to catch it before it disappeared into the woods.

Officers searched the woods, but they were unable to find any clowns.

This sighting comes on the heels of another one in Winston-Salem, North Carolina just one day earlier.

He was spotted trying to lure children into the forest with treats.

Weeks ago, a property manager at an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina sent a letter to residents to warn them of clowns who had been lurking in the nearby wooded area.

Authorities are unsure if this is a string of appearances by the same clown or simply a copycat.
