Warning, if you love dogs the harrowing video embedded below may raise your heart rate a bit -- but don't worry, there's a happy ending.

A man in Bogota, Colombia was caught on video risking his life to save his neighbor's dog, Luna, who had slipped through the rails and was dangling, face-down a 13-story apartment building.

Luna's owner wasn't home so the only way to get to the canine was from the outside.

Diego Andrés Dávila Jimenez first tried to use a broom to push the dog back through the rails, but when that didn't do the trick, he decided to climb up the face of the building -- without any rope or safety measures.

A crowd had gathered below and can be heard on the video shouting to him.

"People on the ground were screaming. They had a mattress out just in case," said Jimenez, according to The Dodo. "The truth is, I did not think about the dire consequences. I did not look down."

He pulled himself up and over the balcony a story above him and was able to pull the dog to safety.

"When I had Luna in my hands and looked down, a thousand thoughts flew through my mind," Jimenez said. "My girlfriend was a little upset, yelling at me 'You stay there! Do not climb back down!'"

He ended up waiting for an hour for his neighbor to come home.

"She was in tears. She is very grateful, because she just adores that dog," he said.
