Nurse breastfeeds baby who won't stop crying before surgery

Notice: This tweet states that the baby is a girl when in fact he is a boy.

When a one-month-old baby getting prepped to have a crissum abcess surgery wouldn't stop crying, doctors didn't know how they would get him to calm down enough to conduct the surgery. That's when a nurse came to the rescue.

Li Baoxia, a new mother and nurse at the hospital in China's Guangdong Province, had just finished assisting on a different surgery when she heard about the baby who wouldn't stop crying. Even though doctors had already administered local anesthetic, nothing could get the baby to calm down. Baoxia offered to breastfeed the boy in an effort to soothe him so that he would stop crying.

To everyone's surprise, the baby stopped crying as soon as Boaxia breastfed him. Doctors were successfully able to perform the operation without any further complications.

Zhao Zhengyuan, lead surgeon for the baby's operation, said he was "very moved" by Baoxia's generous actions. Without her help, he would have had to call the operation off altogether.

After the surgery, the baby's father personally thanked Baoxia for her kindness. He said:

He was pictures shaking hands with the nurse in an emotional exchange.
