New Orleans saw first same-sex divorce before first same-sex marriage
While the recent SCOTUS same-sex decision created a lot of joy and celebration for the US, it wasn't long before same-sex divorce came into play, too. In fact, in New Orleans, the first same-sex divorce occurred before the first same-sex marriage.
Unfortunately, this couple wasn't original in their thinking. Since the same-sex marriage ruling was passed, other people have used Twitter to acknowledge same-sex divorce.

The first same-sex divorce in New Orleans was actually granted a mere two hours before the first same-sex marriage took place.
Judge Paulette Irons dealt with the divorce. "I treated them just like I would a man and a woman," she said.
