Joe Biden Surprises Ellen On Her Birthday

We know one of Ellen DeGeneres' favorite things to do is surprise her guests when they come on her show.

But this week it was her turn to be surprised by a visitor.

Vice President Joe Biden stopped by the show to help the comedian kick off her birthday week.

He even brought Ellen, who turned 57 Monday, a very thoughtful gift: a White House robe. He wanted to make sure she's "able to be comfortable" during next year's State of the Union Address. And like a true gentleman, there were flowers, and even a gift for Ellen's mom Betty.

Of course Uncle Joe didn't just stop by the show to shower the DeGeneres women with gifts. He came by to discuss something Ellen supported in a big way - The Affordable Care Act. Biden explained the importance of having health insurance, and stressed that parents should speak to their adult children --that's anyone between the ages of 26 and 35 -- about signing up.

The deadline to sign up is February 15 - which Ellen reminded the vice president is the day right after Valentine's. And here is what Joe had to say about his plans for the holiday with his wife Jill.

"A lot and I'm not gonna tell ya."
