Couple's $100 Tip for Bad Restaurant Service Goes Viral

A couple tipped 100 dollars for bad restaurant service and the receipt is going viral.

Makenzie Schultz posted a photo of the receipt on Facebook; it's a restaurant receipt with a $100 tip and a note saying, "We've both been in your shoes. paying it forward."

According to the caption, Makenzie and her husband Steve went out to dinner and had a pretty bad time. Well, I'm sure they enjoyed each others company, but Makenzie writes the service was "pretty terrible." She says, "Took 20 minutes to get water, 40 minutes for an appetizer and over an hour for our entree. People all around us were making fun of the restaurant & how bad the service was."

Okay, so why a 100 dollar tip? Makenzie says her bad experience had nothing to do with the server.

In fact, she writes "He was running around like crazy and never acted annoyed with any table." It turns out the restaurant was completely understaffed and according to the Facebook post, the server had to take care of "12 tables plus the bar."

Makenzie and Steve both used to work in restaurants and tipped 100 bucks to balance out the small tips from people who blamed the server for the bad experience.

Makenzie says she's not looking for a pat on the back, but hopes this can be a friendly reminder not to judge situations too harshly.

The post has over a million shares and counting so I'd say she succeeded.
