NEW YORK (PIX11) – When PIX11′s Mario Diaz was wrapping up his report on the arrest of a celebrity behaving badly, another celebrity followed suit during his live shot.

PIX 11 reports that Diaz was finishing up his live shot during the 5 p.m. news on the arrest of Shia LeBeouf when a woman in a large hat appeared behind him.

The woman began waving and walking back and forth as Diaz answered a question from anchor Tamsen Fadal. Then the woman walked around the background for a few moments before trying to lean in to try and kiss Diaz.

Within seconds of the kiss, Twitter and Facebook exploded with people pointing out it was Erykah Badu. Badu responded to the social media burst denying it was her at first.

Hours later Badu confirmed that it was her, and apologized to Mario via Twitter.

Diaz embraced the musician's apology with a bit of humor in return by posting lyrics from the Prince song "Kiss." He also informed Badu how his wife and child were yards away when it all went down.

"Next time I won't do the NYC push back," Diaz tweeted.

This was not the first time Diaz had been caught off guard by someone with the cameras rolling. In 1993, while announcing the second title fight between heavyweights Evander Holyfield and Riddick Bowe at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, a paraglider crashed a few feet away from Diaz's broadcast position.

A few years later, Diaz was photobombed by Tiger Woods while doing a report prior to his first professional victory.

As for this latest case? It is another example of what life in the city can be like, as Don Henley would say, "In a New York Minute."
