Toilet at Mont. courthouse explodes

When you go to the restroom, you normally expect some peace and solitude -- not a brush with death.

Fox News reports: "This is really gross. That toilet right there exploding at a Montana courthouse right as an employee exited the stall. Luckily, that employee was not hurt."

The Billings Gazette reports that the employee was Norma Brewer, a deputy county treasurer at Stillwater County Courthouse in Columbus, Montana.

Brewer told The Billings Gazette, "I had just closed the door behind me when it went off. That saved me. But it sounded like a huge bomb went off in this courthouse."

Frightening! Turns out, though, it wasn't necessarily a random explosion. The brand of the toilet had actually been recalled in 2012.

The toilet was a Flushmate III Pressure-Assist Flushing system. According to a press release issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the brand was recalled because of it's potential to, well, explode.

"The system can burst at or near the vessel weld seam releasing stored pressure. This pressure can lift the tank lid and shatter the tank, posing impact or laceration hazards to consumers and property damage."

KTVQ said that the county will be replacing five of the toilets in the building after the incident.
